This practical session will review the common issues found in pain regimens, and address sustainable solutions ranging from: opioid cycling, long-acting and short-acting opioids, and adjunct agents. We will review practical tools for assessment including the Brief Pain Inventory (BPI) assessment tool. Discussion will touch upon provincial and national initiatives, including naloxone, fentanyl patch-for-patch, and the updated Canadian Guidelines, as well as program sustainability, documentation, communication and marketing.
